Solutions to environmental problems are views within a social context, with the identification of stakeholders that contribute to a situation and therefore to its resolution. Participatory techniques in planning, policy formulation, research and management are increasingly enshrined in the preamble of international agreements and treaties on the environment and sustainable development. Students should be made aware of these instruments and the circumstances in which they may be used in the analysis and resolution of resource management problems. They present the complexity of social and economic problems that era the genesis of environmental ones.
